Detroit native, brand strategist, speaker and tech entrepreneur Hajj Flemings, asks attendees to be social from his OCC 2013 graduating class address.
Flemings asks attendees to get their mobile devices out and tweet and post to Facebook and Instagram using #occgrad13 during his “Reinvention” talk at commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18, at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Graduates and their families are asked to share congratulatory messages, thank faculty and staff, and wish classmates farewell at the event. Over 2,000 graduates and their families are expected to attend the ceremony.
Flemings' goal is to travel the country and inspire people and brands to build, launch and grow ideas, he says.
Flemings is featured in the documentary CNN’s Black In America 4: The New
Promised Land: Silicon Valley, which chronicles his journey and that of seven other entrepreneurs
from around the nation launch startups in Silicon Valley.
He also founded
Brand Camp University in 2008 and has grown it into the largest personal branding
conference in the Midwest. He has expanded the conference to Boston, New York, Las Vegas and Austin. He recently founded Student Ventures to teach
middle and high school students in underserved communities to code and launch
startups.
Flemings' client include Walt Disney, Pitney
Bowes, the U.S. Department of Defense, Iowa State University, University of
Michigan - Ross School of Business, Davidson College, and University of Detroit. He has been featured in the
Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, Mashable and CNN Tech Money on startups, digital technology and branding.
